In Neerpelt is afgelopen weekend afscheid genomen van Hans Wijffels, in 1957 de allereerste student uit de geschiedenis van de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e), toen nog de Technische Hogeschool (TH) geheten. Wijffels overleed op 13 oktober op 86-jarige leeftijd.
