Evelien van den Boom was zorgzaam en attent. Ze schreef vaak briefjes met bedankjes aan haar dierbaren en bleef altijd optimistisch, ook toen het leven haar niet gunstig gezind was. Ze mocht niet lang moeder zijn voor haar drie jonge kinderen. Evelien overleed op haar 41ste aan borstkanker.
