Wessel Dammers is komend seizoen de back-up voor centrale verdediger Sven van Beek. Die rol vulde routinier Khalid Boulahrouz dit seizoen al in, maar Feyenoord gaat niet verder met de 33-jarige mandekker. In De Kuip fungeerde De Kannibaal echter ook als mentor voor de jongere spelers en Dammers bedankt Boulahrouz dan ook op zijn instagram.
